Heating and hot water services

Domestic gas, heating and hot water work across Glasgow and the surrounding areas, for homeowners and landlords — backed by 20 years' experience.

Boilers

Repairs

Repairs on combi, system and regular boilers. I diagnose on site before ordering parts, and show parts and labour separately on the bill.

Annual servicing

Every service checks the flue, ventilation, heat input, working pressure and safety devices. I'll also check the boiler's efficiency and give you advice on keeping running costs down. Most manufacturer warranties need a service every year.

Replacement

Every replacement is surveyed before I quote, and the quote comes as one fixed figure in writing. All work is properly tested, commissioned and installed to local building regulations and manufacturer's instructions, using quality equipment and materials throughout.

Before you get in touch

Handy to have ready, though don't worry if you haven't:

  • Boiler make and model — it's on the front or inside the case
  • Any fault code on the display
  • System pressure from the gauge
  • Roughly how old the boiler is

Unvented hot water cylinders

An unvented cylinder feeds hot water straight off the mains, so you get a proper shower and no tank in the loft. Before quoting I check your mains flow, the space available and the discharge route, so the cylinder suits the house.

All work is properly tested, commissioned and installed to local building regulations and manufacturer's instructions, using quality equipment and materials throughout. You get the paperwork for the manufacturer's warranty.

Annual servicing and repairs on any make of unvented cylinder.

G3 qualified

Installing or working on an unvented cylinder legally requires the G3 qualification. I hold it.

Air source heat pumps

For new installations I work with an MCS-accredited partner. We carry out the system design and order the equipment and materials the job needs; I install and commission it as your engineer, and you deal with me from the first visit to handover.

Grants. Scottish funding for heat pumps and other heating upgrades changes from time to time. See what is available now on Home Energy Scotland’s funding page. Grant-funded installations generally require MCS certification.

Landlords

I know how landlords work: certificates due on a date, tenants to arrange access with, and a flat that needs turning round before the next tenancy starts. You want one engineer who turns up when agreed and gets the paperwork to you, every time.

I cover gas safety checks, servicing, repairs and turnarounds across Glasgow and the surrounding areas, for single flats and portfolios.

  • Boiler servicing and repairs
  • Turnarounds between tenancies

Questions

My boiler is showing a fault code — is that fixable?

Usually, yes. Send me the make, model and fault code when you get in touch.

Should I repair or replace?

It depends on the age of the boiler and the cost of the repair. I'll give you the figures for both and let you decide.

Do I need an annual service?

Most manufacturer warranties require one, and it confirms the boiler is working safely and efficiently.

How long does a boiler swap take?

A like-for-like combi swap is usually a day. Moving the boiler or converting the system typically takes two.

What is an unvented cylinder?

A sealed hot water cylinder fed straight off the incoming mains, so your hot taps and shower run at mains pressure. No cold tank in the loft.

Why does an unvented cylinder need a special qualification?

Because it stores hot water under pressure. Installing or working on one legally requires the G3 qualification, which I hold.

Who designs and installs a heat pump?

For new installations I work with an MCS-accredited partner. We carry out the system design and order the equipment and materials the job needs; I install and commission it as your engineer, and you deal with me from the first visit to handover.

Is there grant funding for a heat pump?

Scotland has its own funding, which changes from time to time. Check what is currently available on the Home Energy Scotland website before you commit. Grant-funded installations generally require MCS certification.

Need a boiler looked at?

Tell me what's up and I'll come back to you with a straight answer. The same engineer from start to finish.
